Medal Design
Large multi-rayed star with four red enameled cross arms and radiant silvered rays between the arms. The center features a blue enameled medallion with royal monogram surrounded by a green laurel wreath and white enamel ring bearing the Spanish motto:
A LA LEALTAD ACRISOLADA
POR ISABEL LA CATÓLICA
Translated into English as:
“To Proven Loyalty – By Isabella the Catholic.”
The upper portion displays a royal crown and heraldic shield. Reverse retains original vertical pin and hinge construction typical of period Spanish and French workshops.
